Teen Leadership Institute

The Institute

This month-long program trains teens ages 14 through 18 in essential leadership, communication, and other skills to effectively serve as a youth mentor in programs such as camp, after-care, or other environments. Registered participants will also have the opportunity to engage in a community service practicum with the Shames JCC or with Wayfinders. Among other things, participants will be trained in hands-only CPR and will receive a Wayfinders Leadership Skills certificate.

Session meets on 4 Tuesdays:

3/29, 4/5, 4/19, and 4/26 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Community Service

Teens enrolled in the Wayfinders Teen Leadership Institute may apply their skills and serve the community by volunteering with the JCC or Wayfinders other programs. Teens enrolled will earn 12 hours of community service according to a schedule developed by mutual agreement of the teen and the selected organization. During their service hours, participants will be supported by staff and they will also have two personalized, 1:1 check-ins with a member of the Wayfinders leadership team. All community service hours will be documented and approved by the JCC or Wayfinders. Participants must also be enrolled in the Wayfinders Teen Leadership Institute.

Additional service hours and/or 1:1 check ins may be scheduled subject to availability and pro-rated fees.
