Base Camp - 2nd-8th Grades After School Program
Wayfinders Base Camp explores our connections with nature, ourselves, each other and our communities through individual (one-on-one) mentoring, weekly fire circles and immersive nature connection games, social emotional learning, leadership development, and community building. Age-based groups (2nd & 3rd; 4th & 5th; 6th-8th) meet one day a week after school and one all day Sunday retreat. Offered during Fall & Spring semesters (program is seasonal and participants can sign up for one or both semesters).
2nd & 3rd grades: $850 JCC Members/$950 Non-Members
4th & 5th grades: $950 JCC Members/$1,050 Non-Members
6th - 8th grades: $950 JCC Members/$1,050 Non-Members

Rite of Passage - 6th-8th Grades Coming of Age Program
This year-long experience for youth in 6th through 8th grades is an alternative to a traditional coming of age rite of passage. Participants explore their part in the web of life, build strong bonds with themselves, each other, the community and the earth. The program takes place over a two year arc, with a one year commitment required.
The program includes immersive experiences in nature, community, service, and mentorship through Thursday Base Camp (3:30-5:30), 2 weekend-long camping trips including a ropes course, and 5 day-long retreats. The experience culminates in a rite of passage to mark coming of age.

Teen Leadership Institute - 9th-12th Grades Evening Program
Wayfinders Teen Leadership Institute provides teens with the essential skills and character building to effectively mentor youth. This two month-long leadership institute begins with a day-long nature retreat and subsequently meets one evening a week. Participants who complete the training will receive a Wayfinder’s Leadership Skills Certification and training in hands-only CPR. Offered during the Winter & Spring (participants can only sign up for one session).
A supported community service practicum is available upon completion of the Institute with placements at the Shames JCC - Almost Home (after school program) or Wayfinders on the Hudson.
