Shigadi Mbekelu
M.A. Early Childhood Education
Shigadi Mbekelu earned her master’s degree in early childhood education from Columbia University’s Teachers College in 2022. In her fulltime work Shigadi teaches at a Reggio Emilia preschool in Manhattan. One of Shigadi’s professional interests is outdoor education and its impact on the critical thinking, socio-emotional, and communication skills of children growing up in the present day. Shigadi lives in Westchester County and spends her free time walking, hiking, and biking the many local trails and parks, and afforded the area’s proximity to New York City, enjoys the boroughs’ variety of music, ethnic food, arts, and cultural offerings.
